NABOX – SODIUM MODIFIER
Nabox canisters, containing metallic sodium, are suitable for carrying out the sodium modification treatment of aluminium-silicon alloys with a silicon content equal to or less than 13%, including eutectic alloys (11.7% Si), hypoeutectic alloys (Si <11.7%) and those moderately hypereutectic (Si 13%).
These alloys, after appropriate fracture of the test piece (sand or shell casting), highlight a microscopic structure, rich in silicon elements which have a polygonal shape and are mixed with coarse needle-like crystals dispersed in a matrix of solid solution (Al).
The introduction of sodium into the liquid bath modifies the crystallization conditions of the silicon present in the mixture.
Nabox contain high purity metallic sodium without traces of oils, oxides and other gas-generating impurities.
