THERMOL 2377 – EXOTERMIC POWDER
Thermol 2377 offers the caster a valid help not only to reduce the weight of the sprues, but also to solve otherwise insoluble feeding problems. The product, used to cover the surface of the sprue, has a dual function.
First of all, with the exothermic reaction, the temperature of the metal with which it is in contact increases and subsequently produces insulation on the metal and avoids heat losses by radiation.
By keeping the liquid metal on the surface of the sprue, the beneficial action of the atmospheric pressure is prolonged which contributes, with the force of gravity, to making the liquid metal descend to fill the shrinkage (contraction) areas that form in the underlying casting.
It follows that smaller sprues can be used while still having greater safety margins.
